New Year, New You.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!  One of my many goals for 2012 is to have healthy, smooth, and glowing skin all over.  My skin doesn’t look bad, but I know it can be better.  I am always looking for new ways to improve my hide and I have recently started trying at home treatments.  They are cost-effective alternatives to spending hundreds of dollars at the spa.  By the way, stay tuned for my very first video blog post, where I demonstrate and reveal a “how-to” at home beauty treatment that will keep you looking 10 years younger!

In preparation for the video I wanted to share an Apple exfoliation cream for the body that you can make yourself.  I found this recipe online and I love it!  It is great for treating extremely dry, rough skin. You can use it on your feet, elbows, and knees, and if you dilute with honey or aloe vera juice, you can use it to exfoliate the rest of your body.

Apple Scrub Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup almond meal
  • 3 tablespoons applesauce
  • 2 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 1 drop lemon essential oil
  • 3 drops grapefruit seed essential oil (optional)

Directions:

Blend all the ingredients in a large bowl.  Make sure you wet your skin before applying. Rub the scrub over your body in a gentle circular motion.  Rinse the salt off thoroughly (Doing this treatment in the shower makes it easier and less messy).

I would love for some of my Sophi Chic readers to try this at home and let me know what you think?  I am excited to hear from you guys, and don’t forget to check in to watch my video coming soon.

As always Stay Chic!

Stay Chic….Winter Hair Trends 2011

Sophichic’s take on the best Winter 2011 Hairstyles:

BIG IS BETTER BABY:

If you got it flaunt it.  Tease those tresses this winter for a 50’s inspired.

RIDE THE PONY:

Try a sleek ponytail, or funk it up with a french braid twist!

ANYTHING KIM DOES:

We love to hate her, but her Farrah Fawcett inspired locks are always hot even when it’s cold!

BE NATURAL:

With the winter weather, styling tools, chemicals, color, and anything else we can do to damage our hair, try letting it be free.

BE BLUNT:

A blunt bob hairstyles is so chic for winter 2011
